Summary
Over the last few decades, Raman spectroscopy has proved to valuable analytical tool towards understanding the structure and chemical composition in material science, biology and medicine. This structure elucidation technique is advantageous due to its unique properties like label free, non-invasive and high spatial resolution. In particular with microscopy the technique offers an improvement in the spatial resolution enabling us to analyse heterogeneous system which finds applications across various fields ranging from materials to medicine. In our lab IR and Raman microscopy has been applied in a large range of area starting from understanding the structure of chemicals, disease detection, analysing effects of drug, grading of cancer etc. Merged with multidimensional analysis tools these techniques has proven to be particularly useful in analysing complex biological system e.g detection and identification of single bacteria, understanding muscle disorders etc. In this talk, we would present results from our laboratory based on Raman microscopy applications to biology and medicine.(演者記)
